from Boston College .

 I have had a varied career path covering the Mortgage Industry, Hospital Administration, Sales Training Director and Management. In all of these positions, people always gravitated to me to ask questions and ultimately ask me  - "were you a teacher?"

I enjoy seeing the proverbial "light bulb" go off in someone's head when they "get it". 

I am of the generation of encyclopedias, dictionaries, road maps and real books  - rather than reading on my phone or computer. I feel that turning the pages and having a book of your own,gives the reader more control and allows them the opportunity to wonder what will the next page or chapter will reveal? What will happen to this character? Will I be sad or happy about how this chapter will end?

 I currently have been tutoring at boys and girls clubs, and many children there come from homes with no books, They are so excited to hold the books, turn the pages, and even love turning them back to comment on pictures or text that had come a few pages back. 

I stress that when a child reads - its not a race. In order to read with fluency - you must understand what you are reading and comprehend the whole story, I teach children to read with expression, to understand quotation, character conversations, sentences that end with question marks or explanation marks, to  read like you are speaking to someone.
